Bronze Age Burial UrnThis urn dating from to around 2,000 BC was found in 1884 by historian Colonel P.D. Vigors when excavating three burial chambers in the Leighlin area. The bowel is damaged as a result of a superstitions workman who, when the burial chamber know as a cist was partially opened, pushed through the handle of his pick instead of putting his hand in and hit the bowel. A number of these such vessels and much larger ones have been found throughout county Carlow with the largest collection being excavted in the mid ninetteth century at Ballon Hill.
